Oh no, is this how augmented reality will end up? Graphic designer Keiichi Matsuda imagines Medellin, Colombia with a glitchy layer of graphics, apps, and ads covering it from top to bottom. These things are fine on my phone because they go away when I put my phone away. With augmented reality, there’s no escape.

Psychostick – Obey the Beard

Spotify’s Discover Weekly playlist hit me with another doozy today. Comedy metal band Psychostick really wants me to grow a beard. Now, I respect a good beard and I want to improve myself, but I’m afraid that a beard would look weird on me. It’s too much maintenance!

Lagwagon – May 16

Most of what I know about punk rock came from the Tony Hawk games. I’ve been listening to punk on SiriusXM and Spotify and I keep recognizing songs from Tony Hawk games. This one’s from THPS2. That one’s from Underground 2. That one’s from Downhill Jam. I didn’t realize that these songs were icons in the wider punk rock community, to the point that May 16 is now “Lagwagon Day“. Is it like 20, November for Bemani fans?

DemizuPosuka

It’s hard to keep up with people who post a lot. This maniac, DemizuPosuka, posts something new to pixiv three times a week. Each one looks like the cover of an indie comic book. I have no idea what most of these are called, even with Google Translate’s help.

Update: Whoa, Columbus’s resident Dr. Mario prodigy Katie provided translations in the Facebook comments. I didn’t expect that! Thank you!

I love it when stuff messes with gravity. Reverse gravity is fantasy enough that you'll never see it in real life, but simple enough that you can understand how things interact with it. Patema Inverted plays with reverse gravity non-stop. You should watch it.

Necessary evil and unnecessary conscience (必要悪といらない良心)
There's big cars, and then there's big enough to crush buildings and take a direct hit from the moon. NASA has that one colossal truck that carries rockets from the hangar to the launchpad. I think that's as close as we get.

Never under-estimate a pop-up book. Ashens reviewed one called Inside the Personal Computer that has a full desktop PC with a couple moving parts. I'd link to that video, but a link's title text can't have its own links. That would break the Internet.

Flyboard Air Test 1

Now this is a hoverboard! Zapata Racing makes those water jetpacks for your feet, and now they’re cranking up the power and making a Flyboard that flies through open air. The Flyboard Air can apparently fly for 10 minutes at up to 93 mph and 10,000 feet. If even half of this is real, I want one last year.
